How number cryptograms work
It is the same puzzle as a letter cryptogram, written with numbers: the same number always means the same letter, and no two numbers share one. The numbers are scrambled, so 1 is not A. Under each blank is its number; tap the blank and pick a letter.
Working puzzle 1
The word 22-24-10-9 appears twice, and 22-24-25-20-25 starts with the same two numbers. Two four-letter words that repeat and share a start with a five-letter word suggest WHAT and WHERE. With W, H, A, T, E and R placed, 11-16-3 and 7-10-23 follow quickly.
Questions people ask
Is a number cryptogram harder than a letter one?
Not really. The logic is the same; numbers just look less like words, so patterns take a moment longer to see.
Does 1 stand for A?
No. The numbers are scrambled for each puzzle, so you have to work them out.
Can I print number cryptograms?
Yes. Tap Print all five: the sheet shows the numbers with a line above each to write on, and the answers on their own page.
Are there letter cryptograms too?
Yes. The daily puzzle and the other pages use letters for the code.
